Don’t miss one of the most popular Christmas Services. Each year schools and churches all over the world hold Christingle Services to raise money for the Children’s Society.
The Church of the Martyrs has been holding a Christingle Service for many years.
On Sunday 6th December at 10.30am you can join in the fun and get an orange with a candle and some sweets.
If you don’t know what it is all about come and find out. Children enjoy the candles, the sweets and meeting up with their friends.
Bring the family and help support a good cause and enjoy getting into the Christmas Spirit.
Everyone is welcome and you can pick up a plastic candle to fill with coins at the church, if you would like to.
All the money raised goes to the work of the Children’s Society.
Beer and Carols
This regular and popular event is happening again this year. Beer and Carols is becoming a feature of Christmas in the West End.
Sadly, this year it will no longer be hosted by the Pump and Tap as the pub had to close.
The Western is the only venue this year, so don’t miss out on the chance to sing your favourite carols with your friends, while enjoying a drink. That’s all we do – sing carols and have a drink.
As usual there will be a small band and keyboard to help keep everyone vaguely in tune.
This is a great night out with a great atmosphere. Come and sing your heart out and enjoy the Christmas spirit on the 22 December at the Western Pub, near Bede Park on Western Road.
The fun starts at 8.00pm to lubricate your larynx and the singing starts at around 9.00pm.
