The Church of the Martyrs runs a group looking at
justice issues. One of its aims is to enable our church to follow
through its commitment to seek God's justice for its parish,
community and the wider world.
Two things seem important when we are seeking to
bring about change.
Focusing on one or two priority issues
rather than many.
Co-ordinating the efforts of a large number
of people to produce an effective lobbying body.
“Justice Mail” encourages concerted efforts
over world development and justice issues. This service is aimed
at busy people who haven't got time to follow up the all of the
many appeals and campaigns which can be found on the Internet, but
who want to make the most of the contribution they do make whether
it be writing a letter or signing a petition. The service is aimed
not only at people from The Church of the Martyrs but also wider
contacts.
If you join the scheme you will receive one email
each week detailing a justice issue and asking you to send an
email, sign a petition or write a letter along with everyone else
who has joined “Justice Mail”. You can choose whether or not
to respond.
Typical organisations we are likely to work through
include Amnesty International, Christian Aid, Tear Fund, Oxfam,
Refugee Council, Shelter, NSPCC.
